Jim Cable is a Kew-trained professional gardener and garden writer with a particular interest in Mediterranean plants. He worked in horticulture for 30 years, including as an interior landscaper, community garden manager, deputy head gardener of the Chelsea Physic Garden and head gardener at Croxteth Hall walled garden, Liverpool.
He wrote a monthly column in the Church Times for 10 years and contributed frequently to The Guardian and Financial Times. Now semi-retired he writes a monthly diary for the English Garden magazine. Jim is, first and foremost, a plantsman. Revamping the Deanery garden here in Llandaff has become his latest project.
He is keen to point out he is not a florist! However he enjoyed making wreaths alongside staff and volunteers in the various gardens he worked in and is looking forward to doing so here for his second Advent in Llandaff.
